To put it simply, I was blown away by how amazing this story was Everything from the writing to the characters, scenery and the storyline was so beautiful and endearing. If you enjoy this book, it is the first installation in a series. Review The Simple Wild was my first KA Tucker novel and the start of my love affair with her stories. Calla was just two years old when her mom. Recommendations: If you’re a romance reader, this one is a good one… but don’t expect a feminist approach to the protagonist. This series is beautiful, gut wrenching, funny, tense & all around has such a great plot with even better characters. I enjoyed Jonah’s outdoorsman attitude and absolutely loved that he pokes fun at Calla over things like clothes and unnecessary makeup. Wild and unforgiving, the frozen tundra provides an outdoorsy twist to this more standard romance “enemies to lovers” trope. The biggest draw for me was the wonderful Alaskan setting. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t disappoint. However, I was surprised and delighted to find out there is a follow-up book. Although I found this premise to be a little disappointing, I did enjoy the book overall. The Simple Wild ends on a satisfying note and I was content to imagine what comes next. The main character is a typical “girl in distress.” She does not know what she wants to do in life and she needs a strong male figure to help her figure that out. Tucker hits all of the traditional romance genre requirements when it comes to this novel. Jonah is burly, harsh and unforgiving… but will he end up being exactly what pampered city girl Calla needs in her life? She experiences culture shock when she arrives, which is only enhanced by the appearance of Jonah, one of the pilots that works with her father. This leads Calla on a journey up to rural Alaska to reconnect with her Dad and discover the isolated wilderness that he calls home. Fate calls when someone from Alaska contacts her to inform her that her estranged Father has fallen terminally ill. She is confused and not sure which direction her future is headed.
